Under the direction of Drama League Directors Project Alum Elena Araoz, this unforgettable evening kicks off at 6 PM with the presentation of the coveted Arts Ally Awards, accompanied by special tribute performances during a 2-course sit-down dinner.

 

The celebration continues at 8 PM with a rooftop dance party featuring live music from Third Reprise. Broadway stars will take the stage throughout the night, joining the band for unforgettable musical moments as you dance under the stars. Passed hors d’oeuvres and a decadent dessert bar will be served throughout the party to keep the celebration going strong.

About the Show

MJ the Musical is the four-time Tony Award-winning showcase of Michael Jackson’s unparalleled artistry. The dazzling jukebox musical centers around the construction of 1992’s Dangerous World Tour, recreated by the Tony Award-winning choreography of Christopher Wheeldon. In total, 25 of Michael Jackson’s most electrifying hits are woven into a book by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage. The musical took Broadway by storm when it premiered in February 2022, with The Washington Post calling it “a riveting, adrenaline rush of a show.” MJ has been nominated for 10 Tony Awards and one Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. Solea Pfeiffer most recently starred as ‘Satine’ in Moulin Rouge on Broadway. In Summer 2024, she starred as ‘Myrtle’ in the highly anticipated production of Gatsby at American Repertory Theatre, directed by Rachel Chavkin. In 2023, she starred as ‘Eurydice’ in the Broadway production of Hadestown as well as ‘Ophelia’ in the Shakespeare in the Park production of Hamlet. She made her Broadway debut in the musical adaptation of Almost Famous, for which her performance as ‘Penny Lane’ drew rave reviews. On stage, Solea previously completed a sold-out run of her solo show You Are Here for Audible Theater and starred in the world premiere of the musical Gun & Powder at the Signature Theatre. She received praise for her portrayal of the title role in New York City Center’s revival of Evita, and starred opposite Renee Fleming in The Light in the Piazza at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Solea also starred in the critically acclaimed run of Jason Robert Brown’s Songs for a New World (New York City Center Encores! Off-Center) and as ‘Eliza’ in the West Coast premiere of Hamilton. Solea’s first job after graduating from the University of Michigan’s Musical Theatre program was ‘Maria’ in the LA Philharmonic/Gustavo Dudamel Hollywood Bowl production ofWest Side Story. She later reprised the role in Steven Reinecke’s National Symphony Orchestra production at the Kennedy Center. She can currently be seen in Tyler Perry’s Netflix feature A JAZZMAN’S BLUES. On television, Solea has recurred on THE GOOD FIGHT and appeared in one of the final episodes of ABC’s SCANDAL.

Britton Smith is an artist-activist, musician, and founder of Britton & The Sting, an alternative soul band fueling the NYC music scene. Their waves of funk, gospel, rock, and testimony collide with mesmerizing melodies that carry their journey-driven music deep into the soul. Their anthem LET’S GET DRUNK AND GO TO CHURCH has been listened to in over 44 countries and was featured on Paper Magazine’s Bops Only: 10 Songs You Need to Start Your Weekend Right. They were also a 2020 NPR Tiny Desk Submission Top Pick. Britton & The Sting has sold out performances at The Apollo, Gramercy Theatre, Williamsburg Music Hall, Rockwood Music Hall, Nublu, Joe’s Pub, and beyond. Recently, they were the support act on Sammy Rae & The Friends world tour, and have been featured in Vanity Fair, Vogue, Fault Magazine, and The New Yorker. Britton is also the creator of MAMA, a theatrical concert and revival experience that premiered at Little Island and is now in partnership with the U.S. Water Alliance. The project merges music, storytelling, and water justice, including Britton’s self-produced NYC’s first World Water Day Concert.

Adrienne Warren most recently starred opposite Nick Jonas in the 2025 Broadway production of The Last Five Years. She previously won the Tony, Drama Desk, Antonyo and Outer Critics awards for her performance as Tina Turner in TINA – The Tina Turner Musical. Warren originated the role in the West End, earning her Olivier and Evening Standard Award nominations. Other Broadway credits include Shuffle Along (Tony, Chita Rivera, Fred Astaire nominations), Bring It On: The Musical, The Wiz (Encores!) and Dreamgirls (The Apollo; NAACP Theatre Award nomination). In 2024, she made her solo Carnegie Hall debut with the New York Pops. Select film and television credits include Netflix’s Rustin, Hulu’s Black Cake, Sony Pictures’ The Woman King, ABC’s Women of the Movement, where she starred as Mamie Till-Mobley, Emmett Till’s mother.  Warren is a Co-Founder of Broadway Advocacy Coalition (BAC), which won an honorary Tony Award in 2021. BAC’s mission is to use arts and storytelling to build a more equitable society, while building the collective capacity of individuals, organizations, and coalitions to do the same. Warren is also the voice of Maybelline New York. She is a proud graduate of The Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk, VA.

Christopher Wheeldon, OBE (Director & Choreographer) trained at The

Royal Ballet School and joined The Royal Ballet in 1991. In 1993, he joined New

York City Ballet and was promoted to Soloist in 1998. He was named NYCB’s first

Resident Choreographer in July 2001. Since then, Mr. Wheeldon has created and

staged productions for the world’s major ballet companies.

Mr. Wheeldon is Artistic Associate of The Royal Ballet where he has created many

works including Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and The Winter’s Tale, both of

which were co-productions with The National Ballet of Canada. He has also

choreographed for the Metropolitan Opera, created ballet sequences for the feature

film Center Stage (2000) and Sweet Smell of Success on Broadway (2002), created

a special excerpt for the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics and was

the Artistic Director for Les Arts Decoratif’s Fashion Forward exhibit in Paris

(2016).

In 2014, Mr. Wheeldon directed and choreographed the musical version of An

American in Paris, which had productions in Paris, on Broadway, and in London.

Most recently he directed and choreographed MJ The Musical (2022), both winning

four Tony Awards, including Best Choreography. The latter is currently on

Broadway, touring in America, London’s West End (Olivier award for Best Theatre

Choreographer), Hamburg, and Australia.

His many other awards include an Outer Critics Award for Best Choreography and

Direction, the Martin E. Segal Award from Lincoln Center, the American

Choreography Award, the Dance Magazine Award, multiple London Critics’ Circle

Awards, the Leonard Massine Prize, the Benois de la Danse and an Olivier Award.

In 2016, Mr. Wheeldon was named an Order of the British Empire (OBE) and was

made an Honorary Fellow of American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Third Reprise is a genre-bending, community-bridging band that plays wildly creative, virtuosic arrangements of showtunes. Highlighting the world-class musicianship of instrumentalists and vocalists from both the Broadway and R&B/funk/soul/jazz scenes in NYC. Third Reprise is the brainchild of arranger, music director and pianist Daniel Rudin, whose boundary-pushing arrangements for the group marry contemporary musical flavors such as disco funk, yacht rock, jazz fusion, and synthpop with rich instincts for storytelling.
