The Drama League Studio Lab

The Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley Studio Lab is a private creative space open for rehearsals, classes, readings, workshops, private events, and more. Conveniently located inside The Drama League Theater Center in Tribeca, less than two blocks from seven major subway lines, the Studio Lab offers unparalleled quiet and privacy for your creative imagination. We feature plentiful amenities including modern HEPA air filtration, a complimentary kitchen, and furniture and equipment to customize your experience. Current date availability and reservation bookings can be accessed via Calendly.

 

Our subsidized studio rental program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Through their generous support, we are pleased to offer discounted rates to artists to develop and showcase work, helping generative art thrive in New York State.

Amenities

The Drama League Studio Lab has complimentary amenities including:
 
  • Tables (six 6’ and four 8’)
  • Silver metal chairs (up to 60) 
  • Music stands (12)
  • 2’x2’ Rehearsal cubes (4) 
  • Electric piano
  • 6” raised platforms (4)
  • Wi-Fi
  • Cleaning supplies (Swiffer WetJet mop, dust pan and broom, dish soap, disinfectant spray, paper towels) (located in the kitchen)
  • Kitchen (mini-fridge, microwave, water filter, sink, trash and recycling receptacles)
  • Overhead dimmable lights
 
The Studio Lab does not have a sprung floor, and is not recommended for heavy choreography or dance rentals. Additional policies will be provided during the completion of the reservation process.

Rental Procedures

Bookings are based on availability and are first come, first served. 

 
IMPORTANT: Your reservation is NOT confirmed until all steps below are completed. Please read the instructions carefully to make sure we can process your rental in a timely manner. Please allow us 2-3 days from receipt of paperwork for a response. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

 

  1. For first-time renters, or if any information has changed since your last rental in 2023, please sign and read the following documents, which will also be automatically emailed to you once you place a request in Calendly above.
  2. Sign & Email: The Drama League Rental Agreement and Credit Card Authorization Form
  3. Read: The Drama League Health and Safety Procedures for Rental Space Use
  4. Email the completed paperwork to StudioLab@dramaleague.org within 1-3 days with your name, reservation date(s) and time(s) in the subject line. The Studio Lab Manager will send you a Rental Payment Breakdown for you to sign. If we do not receive all paperwork within 1-3 business days, your calendar hold will be canceled. 
  5. Once we’ve received your paperwork, we will process your payment, charging your credit card with the information you provide. 
  6. Once payment has been processed, StudioLab@dramaleague.org will send a copy of your payment breakdown receipt and officially confirm your rental.

Cancelation Policy

Due to the multi-artist use of the Studio Lab, your rental dates/times, once confirmed by The Drama League, cannot be altered or rescheduled.  Please, therefore, take care before requesting your hours. Refunds are not possible once payment has been made.

Capacity

The Studio Lab has a maximum capacity of 60 occupants, including all participants in your rental: performers, collaborators, staff, attendees, and invited guests.  The Drama League is not accepting rentals for ticketed events at this time. Violation of the occupancy maximum will result in an additional $250 fee.

Location

The Drama League Theater Center is located at 32 Avenue of the Americas, NYC. It is one block from the A/C/E subway lines, and two blocks from the 1/N/R/6 subways lines. Parking is available in a lot across from the building, and there is street parking along Walker and Lispenard Streets.
