Frequestly Asked Questions

Q. What happens after I apply?

Applications will be reviewed as they come in, and  offers will go out on a rolling basis. Applications will close once each track is full. Once you have been selected, you will be required to pay a 50% deposit to confirm your place. The balance will be due by early August. 


Q. How much does the program cost?

The Summer Professional Theater Intensive is $1900 per student, regardless of which track they are in. This fee includes:

  • All food and accommodation at Stump Sprouts Retreat
  • Transport NYC --> Stump Sprouts --> NYC (students bringing their own cars are responsible for gas and insrance costs)
  • All tickets and scheduled activities on NYC Industry Day
  • Two meals in NYC - lunch on 8/15 & breakfast on 8/16. 

 

Q. Is there financial aid available?

If you require financial aid in order to attend the program, please email education@dramaleague.org to discuss your circumstances. 

 

Q. Do I need to be an enrolled college student to apply?

No, you do not need to be a current college student to apply. However, your age and experience should be approximately parallel to those at that level.

 

Q. Can I apply for both actor & director tracks?

Yes you can, but you need to specify your first choice. If that track is full by the time you apply, or we think you are more suited to the other track, we will place you there.

 

Q. I’m not from New York. Do I need to go back to NYC after Stump Sprouts?

No you do not; you may leave from Stump Sprouts and head straight home. However you are responsible for the cost and logistics of transport home, either from Stump Sprouts directly, or from NYC if you choose to return on the bus with us.

 

Q. Is there Wi-fi and cell service at Stump Sprouts?

There is no cell or internet connection at Stump Sprouts. You are encouraged to embrace this as an opportunity to switch off, power down and make art in nature!

There is a landline at Stump Sprouts that can be used in case of emergency.

 

Q. Will I have my own bedroom at Stump Sprouts?

No, sleeping arrangements at Stump Sprouts are dorm-style bedrooms, between 2 and 7 beds per room. Bathrooms are also shared.

 

Q. What Do I need to bring?

Bring snacks you may need or want (3 meals per day will be provided). 
Bring sheets and towels (some students will have full beds. You will be informed ahead of time whether you need to bring single or full-sized sheets)
