Event: Application Workshop

The Drama League Directors Project is a lifelong home for stage directors where they can advance their careers, hone their artistry, and develop networks for success. Its Fellowships and Residencies for directors offer financial support, professional guidance, assistantships, and opportunities to develop and direct artistic work. In this informative, insightful workshop, Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks offers a rare glimpse into the new selection criteria used to choose recipients, and offers personal advice for crafting a strong, competitive application.

Directors interested in applying for 2021 Fellowships should attend the Monday, November 16 or Friday, December 4 sessions.
Directors interested in applying for the 2021 Residencies should attend the Friday, November 20 or Monday, November 30 sessions.
Directors may attend both sessions if they choose.

The Drama League has already selected its 2021 recipients for the Public Works, Film/Television, and Leo Shull Musical Fellowships, as well as three of its Hangar Fellowship recipients. Therefore, The Drama League will only accept applications in this cycle for the 2021 Classical Fellowship, the 2021 New York Fellowships, the remaining 2021 Hangar Fellowship slot. The Drama League has already selected the 2021 Recipient for the Impact Residency. The 2022 application cycle will open in September 2021. A partnership of the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center and The Drama League of New York, the Impact Residency provides extensive resources of space, time, and funds for a director-led ensemble group to create a new work.
