The Drama League Hosts
David Schwimmer & Michael Shannon

Monday, September 24 | 7:00pm
An Evening with David Schwimmer and director Anne Kauffman
520 Eighth Avenue | 3rd Floor | NYC 10018

David Schwimmer is best known for his Emmy-nominated portrayal of endearing professor Ross Gellar on the hit NBC sitcom “Friends,” but his body of work is far more diverse. As an actor, Schwimmer made his Broadway debut in 2006 in THE CAINE MUTINY COURT-MARTIAL and gave a critically-acclaimed performance in the 2009 production of OUR TOWN at Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago, of which he is a co-founder. He directed the films “Run, Fatboy, Run” and “Trust” starring Clive Owen and Catherine Keener and made his stage directorial debut with FAULT LINES at Cherry Lane Theatre. Schwimmer returns to the stage to star in the New York premiere of Lisa D’Amour’s play DETROIT at Playwrights Horizons. Directors Project alumna Anne Kauffman directed DETROIT, and she joins us to talk about the show’s journey.

Thursday, September 27 | 5:30pm
An Evening with Michael Shannon and director Dexter Bullard
520 Eighth Avenue | 3rd Floor | NYC 10018

Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road”) is no stranger to the stage – the prolific actor has worked extensively in New York, London, and Chicago, where he helped found A Red Orchid Theatre. Well known for his role on HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” as well as his Oscar-nominated performance in “Revolutionary Road”, also starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, Shannon returns to the New York stage to star in GRACE on Broadway alongside Paul Rudd and Ed Asner. Dexter Bullard, Directors Project alum and the director of GRACE, joins us to illuminate the production’s journey to Broadway. Reed Birney (UNCLE VANYA) joins us to host the evening.
