Tuesday, November 24th, 2009
Previews for the first Broadway revival of A Little Night Music begin tonight at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
The new production, directed by Trevor Nunn, stars Academy Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones and 2010 Benefit Gala Honoree Angela Lansbury. Zeta-Jones is making her Broadway debut in the role of Swedish actress Desirée Armfeldt opposite Lansbury as her wise mother Madame Armfeldt.
The show features a score by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler and, according to press notes, “is set in a weekend country house in turn of the century Sweden, bringing together surprising liaisons, long simmering passions and a taste of love’s endless possibilities.”
